3Sixty Insights - Research Agenda Talent Management - 2023Since engaging with the HR technology space as a research analyst, I have had many eye-opening conversations with solution providers and human resource leaders alike.

These exchanges opened my mind to new ideas and ways of thinking, resulting in an increased enthusiasm for this subject. I want to help our community challenge the status quo and discard practices that are no longer fit for purpose.

This revised agenda has evolved through those conversations and hopefully you will see a greater curiosity on challenges and solutions.

Advances in technology are revolutionizing the way we work by enabling people to be more efficient, effective and successful in ways that were not possible before (3Sixty Insights Blog – “How can business find the right balance between empathy and efficiency,” September 2022).

As a result, there is a need for us to better understand how technology is changing the way organizations behave and how individuals interact within it. In order to gain a comprehensive understanding of these advances in technology, 3Sixty Insights aims to research various aspects of talent management technology: its development, adoption, implementation, impacts on organizational structures and processes, as well as its implications for individuals and society at large (3Sixty Insights Blog – “The Changing Definition of Success, September 2022).

I hope to collaborate with other experts who can bring different perspectives or even novel approaches that may not have been considered before. Together, we can explore advances in technology across the following four themes in 2023: (1) aligning talent and business strategy; (2) managing innovation and change; (3) leveraging culture; and (4) filling the talent bench.

Through our combined efforts, we can address all aspects of this field so that we can gain a better understanding of how talent management technologies are impacting us now and what potential effects they may have in the near future.

With all this in mind, the following are the Talent Management themes that 3Sixty Insights is exploring in 2023:

  • Aligning talent and business strategy: how organizations are thinking differently about strategy with advances in skills technology?
  • Managing innovation & change: how leaders are improving organizational learning with advances in talent marketplace technology
  • Leveraging culture: how organizations are collaborating across boundaries in new ways  with advances in technology
  • How organizations are filling the talent bench  differently with advances in technology
