Paychex has introduced WISE Hire, a recruiting solution that extends WISE, the agentic AI platform Paychex announced in May 2026 as the intelligence layer across its HCM portfolio. WISE Hire uses AI agents to handle the routine, time-consuming parts of recruiting, including candidate sourcing, screening, coordination, and scheduling. It pairs that automation with patented candidate-matching technology and access to human hiring coaches. Candidate sourcing reaches Google for Jobs, Meta’s local jobs marketplace, and ChatGPT, and Paychex emphasizes that employers remain responsible for evaluating candidates and making hiring decisions, with human oversight built into the workflow. Paychex also describes WISE Hire as an AI-agent platform built for front-line workers, which points squarely at the high-volume, hourly hiring where small employers feel recruiting pressure most acutely and where speed to hire often determines whether a candidate is still available.
Paychex’s release does not mention it, but WISE Hire is built on the core technology of Wizehire, a hiring platform for small businesses. Wizehire announced the same day that it has joined Paychex, and Paychex confirmed to 3Sixty Insights that it acquired the company earlier this year. Wizehire was already a Paychex partner, with existing integrations into both Paychex Flex and Paycor, so the acquisition brings a proven SMB recruiting product, its matching technology, and its coaching model fully in-house. The standalone version of WISE Hire is offered through Wizehire directly.
The launch also marks a shift in Paychex’s AI recruiting strategy. In 2024, Paychex introduced Recruiting Copilot, an AI-assisted sourcing tool built in partnership with Findem, which 3Sixty Insights covered at the time as the company’s first move to bring enterprise-level recruiting capabilities to small businesses. Paychex told 3Sixty Insights that WISE Hire is now a core capability of the WISE platform, is being rolled out to existing clients, and will replace Recruiting Copilot over time. Combined with the Paycor acquisition, which 3Sixty Insights analyzed in January 2025, WISE Hire gives Paychex a single, owned AI recruiting layer that spans its micro-business, small business, and midmarket customer bases.
