Maria Scarangella, Founder and President of Scarangella Consulting, is a dynamic senior leader with decades of experience in business operations and human resources. She is recognized as a thought leader in the fields of HR economics, talent strategy, leadership development, data-driven decision-making, and executive coaching. Through strategic partnerships with clients, Maria drives efficiency, productivity, and ensures a 10X return on their investment in people. Her client portfolio includes PE Financial Services and Manufacturing, Non-Profit Organizations, Insurance Companies, and Start-ups.
With a career spanning 37 years at GEICO, Maria’s unique perspective was developed through diverse roles and responsibilities. Beginning her career in HR, she honed her skills by leading operational units that delivered increased revenue, reduced costs, and improved customer and employee experiences. As an AVP, she successfully managed teams of over 1,000 employees, oversaw a $2.5 billion P&L, served 1.5 million customers, and achieved annual sales exceeding 400,000.
In her role as the VP of Enterprise Talent and Learning, Maria demonstrated her ability to find innovative solutions to complex problems. She spearheaded the design and implementation of the Talent Acquisition and Onboarding Center of Enablement, as well as the Learning Center of Excellence, both of which yielded a 10X return on strategic people investments. Notably, she reduced hiring costs by $3.6 million, training expenses by $54 million, and turnover expenses by $37 million, all while improving efficiency and quality. With her extensive leadership experience, Maria possesses a deep understanding of senior leaders’ challenges and actively designs solutions that address real business issues.
Maria holds an MBA from Adelphi University, a BS in Business Management from St. John’s University, and certifications from renowned institutions such as Harvard (Executive Communication), Cornell (Change Management), and UC Berkeley (Strengthening Advocacy).
